Barcelona, May 23, 2019 – Fractus Antennas (NN) and its Virtual Antenna™ technology will contribute to the 5GBarcelona initiative to transform Barcelona into a metropolitan 5G testing laboratory.
5GBarcelona initiative aims to turn the city of Barcelona into one of the European innovation hubs within the area of 5G, to validate technologies and services. Barcelona has the requirements to become the leading 5G hub for Southern Europe and Fractus Antennas will contribute with its antenna expertise and the new and innovative Virtual Antenna™ technology that perfectly matches with the 5G requirements.
5G will provide access to the famous IoT (Internet of Things) and all the new innovative initiatives in city areas such as connected vehicles, drone-based services, Industry 4.0, and access to remote e-health services: Smart Cities with smart services and products.
5G has to take on the challenge given by the upcoming wireless market that requires all types of mobile communications standards and a high level of adaptability to many different multiband wireless devices. At this point is when NN plays its role: Virtual Antenna™ boosters fully reconfigurable, being adaptable to any mobile standard requirement thanks to its modular and multi-port nature.
5G Barcelona is a public-private initiative that works towards transforming the metropolitan area of Barcelona into an open and neutral urban laboratory for the validation and adopting of 5G technologies and applications in a real environment. 5G Barcelona is an innovative project promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Hall, Mobile World Capital Barcelona, i2CAT, CTTC, Atos and the UPC.
