TALP staff members are happy to welcome 4 new members:

Raphaël Bailly has started a postdoc at TALP. His research intererests are theoretical and algorithmic aspects of spectral methods for learning automata and grammars. He will work with Xavier Carreras and Ariadna Quattoni in unsupervised methods for syntactic and semantic parsing. rbailly@lsi.upc.edu – Omega-318 - Researcher

Anna Raboshchuk has started his PhD at TALP under the advice of Dr. Climent Nadeu. She is working on "Robust event recognition". Her PhD is funded by a FI predoctoral grant from the Catalan Government. anna.raboshchuk@tsc.upc.edu - D5-218 - PhD Student

Audi Primadhanti has started a PhD after graduating from the Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Data Mining and Knowledge Management. She is working on weakly supervised methods for entity and relation extraction, under the agenda of the XLike project, supervised by Xavier Carreras, Ariadna Quattoni and Gabriele Musillo from www.dmetrics.com. primadhanty@lsi.upc.edu – Omega-S107 - PhD Student

Salvador Medina is undergrad student under the CFIS program (http://www-cfis.upc.edu). He is studying a double degree in Telecommunications and Computer Science having just finished his third year. He is currently doing a 5-month internship at GPLN (September,2012 - January, 2013) under the direction of Dr. Jordi Turmo, working on information extraction topics. smedina@lsi.upc.edu - Omega S106 - Developer

Moreover, we want to bid a warm farewell to our former member:

Daniele Pighin enjoyed a UPC postdoctoral grant during two years. He worked within the FAUST project framework. His research at TALP was on statistical machine translation, with a special focus on modeling and estimating translation quality, robust multi-lingual linguistic processing and user feedback incorporation. Since October he is working as a Researcher at Google in Zurich.
